Millions of people are now struggling with back pain, and are receiving no practical tips on how to ease it. In today’s blog, I’m going to share 3 practical tips that could help you minimize your discomfort and improve the quality of your life. Whether your pain is occasional or chronic, these strategies could help make a difference.
POSTURE
You’ll most likely get told that good posture is crucial in reducing back pain. While it is true that posture can help keep your spine aligned, therefore minimizing back pain and reducing unnecessary strain, something I like to say is “the best posture is the next posture”. Regularly changing positions keeps your muscles active, enhances circulation, and prevents the stiffness that can contribute to back pain. So, keep moving and find a balance between sitting, standing, and walking, throughout your day.
TRAINING
Another piece of advice that could help ease back pain is to strain your spine/core both isometric and isotonic. Isometric exercises, like planks, involve holding a position to build static strength and stability, which helps support the spine and maintain alignment. Isotonic exercises, such as crunches or back extensions, involve movement and help strengthen the muscles through a range of motion, improving flexibility and endurance. Combining these types of exercises ensures that your core muscles are robust and resilient, providing better support for your spine and reducing the likelihood of back pain.
WALKING
Before you write off walking as a much too simple of a factor, keep in mind that not every injury has a complicated solution. Walking promotes mobility, enhances blood flow to spinal structures, and strengthens the muscles that support your spine. The rhythmic motion of walking helps to lubricate your joints, reduce stiffness, and release endorphins, which act as natural painkillers. As simple as it sounds, regular walks can contribute to spine health and reduce the frequency and intensity of back pain episodes.
